Mali Rain - The Armadillo This time around Mali Rain (or more specifically Dave Kirby) take their influences from an even wider range than before; with the opening "Still Slinky" somehow meshing Hip-Hop effortlessly with techno, ambient and trance to create a monumental, groove led piece of organic techno which takes Mali Rain to places we could never have dreamt they would go; "Trephine" is as compellingly beautiful as anything that has ever gone before it; "Reloader" throws Miles Davis-esque brass in the mix and comes up as chilled as you could ever image; while "Plutonik" plucks a dub base from the air and buries it beneath a flurry of distorted guitars and blisssed out synths to create a mellow yet uplifting dance floor killer. Every track unique, yet still infused with that Mali Rain magic. |
